wendy simpson - hungry creek artschool 2016
plaster boards are a beautiful when they have interesting texture. these multiple arrangements show tests for a final presentation. Photos don’t show to advantage the gorgeous materials. Idealy to present again I would need to create more boards so each string has its own space – it would take alot more space and reasources

EXISTential EnFolding
EXISTential – EnFolding this is interesting I enjoyed making it so much, I needed to ground myself and painting and drawing does that for me. However I was not fully pleased with it, I automatcaly create delicate work and I like to push my work into the space of more power and energy, this seemed to arrive by itself as i had something else in mind it seems a bit fluffy.  The human body is beautiful and charcoal drawings are a classic way to appreciate.

ConsciousNess
The ConsciousNess Head was made at the Peter Shearer Studio – his crackle glaze makes this piece stunning
This workshop was a birthday present from my husband (now ex) when my second daughter was two ,each person created their own pieces. It was the first art I had participated in for years. VERY enjoyable, this face just arrived it grew out of a ball of clay. I love faces and its good when i can look at other people to see some of the dimensions.Â

RuNES
Wendy Simpson RUNES 2016 - WOOD Totora Branch
I had fun creating these Runes over 2 years after the book blinked at me in a second hand shop. The Hungry Creek ceramics tutor kindly chopped them on the school saw for me. The wood is Totora I cut a branch from the tree that was pressing againt our house and needed to be taken out. I made sure some seedlings were planted in the garden so the tree would continue. The practice is to ask the tree and also to give back.
Unitec 4 year DeSIGN Degree 1996-1999
I found some of my old work from the Unitec 4 Year Design Degree. There is not much left however, these are the pieces I kept as they are small and my favourites . They show series evolution which i love.Â

INdividutality
This was a first year brief at Unitec 1996 I enjoyed the repetitive nature vs individuality this is a theme of mine – we are unique and not at the same time – how do we show our individuality?

MultiPles
wendy simpson - hungry creek art school 2015
This is a bit fun with multiples I find the repetitiveness enjoyable because the pattern creates the jumbled sense of the place. the photos were originally for a situation brief at hungry creek art school. I was enjoyably side tracked by the texture and pattern aspects. Its meant to be seen as one piece althought you can see each photo if you wish.
